Guitarist-composer Ruben Machtelinckx recorded his debut album 'Faerge' in Copenhagen with great musicians Hilmar Jensson, Joachim Badenhorst & Nathan Wouters.

Earlier this year, guitarist / composer Ruben Machtelinckx recorded his debut album, 'Faerge', in Copenhagen. The music is played by guitarists Ruben Machtelinckx and Hilmar Jensson, Joachim Badenhorst on reeds and Nathan Wouters on double bass. These atypical occupation produces a distinctive and soothing sound. Strong melodies and earthy progressions form the basis of the compositions that often have a melancholic undertone. The music consists of atmospheric, warm, poetic sounds, and allows the individuality of each musician to come forward. The emphasis is on the sound texture and homogeneity of the music, which among other things means that the musicians think as more composers than as solo act.

As a freelance musician, Ruben performed together with fellow musicians such as Teun Verbruggen, Kris Defoort, Quinsin Nachoff, Joachim Badenhorst, Erwin Vann, Bart Maris, Kurt Van Herck, Peter Evans, Iva Bittova, Hilmar Jensson, Chris Joris,... In August 2010, Ruben performed on the international jazz festival "Jazz Middelheim" with "Le Pragmatisme du barman", a new band coached by New York trumpeter Peter Evans. He was the leader of the band "Phynt" with Erwin Vann. He currently plays and composes for Amydala (Kurt Van Herck/ Nathan Wouters) and a duo with guitarist Karl Van Deun. In 2012 he went to Copenhagen to take some lessons with Jakob Bro and to record his first album as leader with Hilmar Jensson, Joachim Badenhorst and Nathan Wouters. (El Negocito Records). He is an active musician in different side projects ranging from impro to pop.

"A truly beautiful & warm sounding collection of songs from the heart." Jakob Bro, 4* reviews! People who are interested in Bill Frisell Flying Horseman Jimmy Giuffre should consider this music.
